Where is everyone?!

You enter through a revolving door into a nearly empty atrium.  As you walk through the vast, lonely space to the coat check, this quote appears in your mind.

“The majority of the population do not visit art museums.”   -John Berger

The empty lobby of the Queens Museum demonstrates the lack of attendees in this museum.  This room is the first room you see when you enter the museum.  When you walk through, it is painfully clear that  not many people visit art museums.  Everyone has different reasons not to visit one.  They simply don’t have the time or they don’t have the funds to visit.  Art does not connect to them.  There is something way more fun to do.  The weather is bad.  In my case, it is a Wednesday afternoon and you are a busy college student with work to do.  With so many other things to do, the lack of visitors is no surprise.  Yet, this attitude reveals a disconnect the population has with art, culture, and history.
