The Beauty of the Night

I’ve noticed that in the night, Manhattan has much more beauty. For example, this Empire State Building. Honestly, during the day, I just look up and say, “Wow it’s the tallest building here in Manhattan.” I didn’t see the beauty of it except how long it took to build the building. However, when I was walking down the street, I was amazed. The different fluorescent colors at night made a real difference. The tallest building was shining so brightly. It looked like a piece of art in 3D form. It was really cool to see this. I wonder why they choice to light these specific colors. Then I thought that it was very patriotic since the colors are the colors of the American flag. I also remembered when they lit up the Filipino’s colors as well when the Philippines were hit with the Earthquake. The Building delivers a message through the use of its colors and lights. I never came to thinking this until I saw the colors of this building.

What do you guys think about the lights?

I love the lights at night truly brings something special to the city. I especially love how the night lights are consistently changing. I don’t know if you saw the Thanksgiving edition of the Empire State Building lights.. It was so cool. Anyways, I completely agree and just because of the beauty of the lights, Time Square is probably my favorite place throughout NYC. I think the lights just make perfect sense for tall buildings, hopefully helping to avoid any airplanes. Haha. I don’t know if you have ever been to Las Vages, but they have some of the most amazing lights there. Really brings out the City and creates art.

Susan I feel the same way a lot of times I walk by the empire state. Considering that I walk by it basically every day when coming to school it has become a habitual part of my day and for that reason lost part of its uniqueness and awe in my eyes. That being said I always get a grin on my face when I walk by it an night because it truly does become something else. Rather than being a building that blends in with the others around it, the empire state illuminates the sky with its different lights and lets itself reclaim its spot as being one of the most iconic buildings around the world. Its amazing how the city comes alive at night!
