Ethnic Hotspots

In our quest to understand New York City and its residents, we individually visited the ethnic hotspots of different immigrant groups. Each individual visited two sites: one associated with people of The Great Immigration of 1850-1920 (i. e. Germans, Scandinavians, Irish, Italians, Jewish, Polish, Bohemians, Greeks, Armenians, etc.) and another with those of The New Immigration of 1960-present (i.e. Dominicans, Mexicans, Chinese, Indians, Koreans, from the West Indies, Bangladesh and Philippines, etc.). This map shows the places we visited, which span the five boroughs and bridge decades of history.
