Journal Blog # 3- My Experience at the NAWA Exhibit

     At the NAWA museum I saw pretty intriguing pieces of art. But what was peculiar about my experience at the Sylvia Wald-Po Kim Gallery was the fact that I’ve never gone to a museum or exhibit that centered on women artists. With my ignorance on how a feminine museum would appear, I also brought along some of my expectations. Before I entered the NAWA, I expected to see art presented on the more historical edge, depicting the rise in political power of women over the course of time. Instead, I was greeted with a variety of pieces, landscapes, sculptures, and portraits, on a variety of subjects, ranging from a painting of a lover to a model of an abacus.  On a side note, the keepers of the exhibit, Sonia Stark and Susan Hammond, took us (the students who came to visit the exhibit) with a very warm welcome and had time to talk to them about their views of art and their experience in the field.
