Letter from Paris to America

My dearest Kaylin,

How have you been? Its been quite a long time since I moved to Paris, around nine months I presume. I hope everything has been splendid with you and your family. Tell John that I got him the gift that he wanted, and tell everyone that I send my best wishes.

The past nine months have been an absolutely amazing experience. I’ve been going out and experiencing everything that Paris has to offer, from the amazing food to the wonderful culture that the city has. I’ve been sightseeing and making sure to enjoy as much of my stay here as I can, before coming back to the States. I definitely recommend visiting Paris in the future, as the number of historical places and monuments to gaze your eyes upon are endless. The Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and the Palace of Versailles (which is a little bit of a trip outside Paris but definitely worth seeing) are three reasons to definitely visit this wondrous city, with many more as well.

My work as a musician has been going very well so far. I have been playing in various different venues with one particular orchestra in which everyone is very kind and friendly. Practicing the works of Mozart and Chopin leading up to my first show was very stressful, as I wanted everything to be perfect. I was finally able to relax after the first show in May was a major success, and every show after that has been extraordinary as well.

Along with the orchestra members being very considerate and cordial, they have been a great help in improving my command of the French language. I am now able to have lighthearted and playful conversations in the language, in contrast to the formal and banal form of language that is usually taught at university. My biggest success was definitely the date I had with a Parisian that was very pleasing to the eyes, which included a very expensive bottle of wine and a night that went on very long. 🙂

My stay in Paris has been an unforgettable experience that is sure to amaze me more and more throughout the next three months that I have in the country. After my stay is over with the orchestra, I may decide to look for more work in France after coming back to visit my friends and family. I know my family misses me very much, but they know how much I worked to accomplish one of my greatest dreams and are very proud of all the achievements I have made.

I hope for the best for you and your family, and I promise that I will come to visit when I return to the States.

Best Wishes,

Jason
