Holidays!

Well, here we are. These are a list of Asian holidays. They’ll be organized according to culture… I guess… it will be updated as more goes on.

Chinese New Year: It’s equivalent to the New Year’s Day in North America, except in China and other Chinese cities such as Hong Kong, it lasts for a couple of days.

Dongzhi Festival (冬至): You can say it’s the equal to Thanksgiving in America. It is always celebrated on December 22 because it is the first day of winter; back then, farmers would be happy because there is nothing to do after harvest and they don’t have to worry about anything until the springtime.

White Day (ホワイトデー): A Japanese/South Korean holiday observed a month after Valentine’s Day, i.e. March 14. Valentine’s Day is typically observed by women, while White Day is observed by men. In this holiday, men give out white candies, chocolates, cookies, or of the sort, to their loved ones, but only if on Valentine’s Day a chocolate gift was received. By giving out the white candy, he accepts the love the woman has offered. Quite romantic.
