Entering the Arctic

Today was traveling day. We travelled approximately 370 miles from Fairbanks to the Toolik Field Station (TFS) located at 68° 38′ N, 149° 36′ W. TFS is operated and managed by the Institute of Arctic Biology at the University of Alaska Fairbanks with cooperative agreement support from the Division of Polar Programs, Directorate for Geosciences at the National Science Foundation. There is a point in the way indicating to travelers when they have entered the Arctic Circle. We immortalized the moment (from left to right, Kyle McDonald, Nick Steiner, Erika Podest, and Angelo Lampousis).

The Trans-Alaska crude-oil pipeline was ever-present along the way.
