This article presents a small reflection of the neighborhood community on what the Canal is to them. Written in an optimistic, cheery tone, I picked this source because it contrasts other sources. It describes the Canal in a warmly nostalgic tone and presents the viewpoint of a variety of the residents in the Canal. At the same time, there are small blurbs of factual information about the canal and what happened with gentrification. This source cannot be unbiased because it is aiming to reach into what makes the Canal poetically beautiful. As a result, everything that the writer will say becomes rose-colored. However, the author makes it a point to only be slightly biased. He admits that there is a problem with the Canal and acknowledges the attempts to fix the problem. This is also a great source as it provides a glimpse into the socio-political facet of the Gowanus Canal gentrification entrepreneurship.
