A Taste of the Lower East Side
The Lower East Side was (and is) the dwelling place for many immigrant groups coming into America. This menu consists of foods from the early immigrants and progresses through the meal to the most modern immigrant groups and current residents. The food is authentic and traditional as keeping with the immigrants’ traditions while residing in the Lower East Side.

Many of these foods can still be found in the various cafés and restaurants around the area. Some of these ethnic dishes though, are not as easily found anymore, as the area transitions from an immigrant neighborhood to an upscale, trendy locale, crowded with interesting shops that cater well to an upperclass population, but often skip over the traditional foods of the various ethnic groups that once populated the area.
