MAS Youth Center
Given the current trend of fear-mongering and Islamophobia, it is not uncommon for Muslims and Islamic organizations to constantly be on the defensive and strive to give back to their communities. Non-profit organizations such as MAS and Muslims Giving Back work perpetually in the communities they serve. Recently, the MAS Youth Center sponsored its own team to participate in the Gaza 5k in Prospect Park, an initiative that fundraises for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency to support mental health programs for refugees in Gaza affected by psychological trauma.In March 2016, the Al-Ansar Center, located just a few blocks down from the MAS Youth Center, partnered with Muslims Giving Back to financially support a mother who suffered from domestic abuse, and her children.
