Friday Night Lights leads to quite a disparity from sustainability and the environment, however, while I was taking this photo, there’s was something to realize. Clear skies. Pure blue, with only the sun setting to end another day. While people enjoy sunsets, they fail to realize how polluted our earth is, especially our sky. Going back to Friday Night Lights, the battle cry that is the title of this post, isn’t only for the high school football teams within the show, however, it is a cry of hope. Optimism, a beacon for that no matter an individual’s background, their parents, age, gender, politics, everyone had a fair shot at their dreams. I believe that this is a fitting motivator for our current generation.
As time progresses, we are the next leaders, workers, families, the future of our country, of our city. We spoke about population as well as age/demographics/and future trends during the last class which led me to speak about our generation today. Those who care to inform themselves on the rapid changes in growth of New York City, the progression in climate change, the issues that are going on currently whether it be political, social, economical, there is a vision. A vision is developing. To bring change, we are the kids that grew up to never give up. To be engaged, focused, and ambitious. To be present and mentally on at all times with everything that we do. As the sun sets, it rises again the next day. A parallel to what we do as New Yorkers. We don’t let anything phase us. At the end of the day, we care about what we invest our time into, and we might fall sometimes, things may not work out instantly, that’s life. But did you really lose? Or are you going to get back up, and show the world what you’re capable of?
