Well it’s definitely not raining men… I checked

Sooo hi there!

It’s been pretty interesting since my first blog. I did not do much Spanish studying at all, I had SUCH a blast in the city helping out with freshman orientation, and Hurricane Irene flooded my basement and my front yard. You’re wondering about the title? Well, the sky is crying once more, the basement is looking wet, and there’s a small lake developing on my lawn… *Sigh*

My grand studying plans didn’t exactly amount to much because, alas, I am a lazy bum when I am home. I am also bored. Very bored. Like a housewife without a car.

All the freshmen I met are AWESOME and I know they’ll just do amazing things ^^ I got to lead an orientation group on Governor’s Island—–>>>
We were called “Pretty in Pink” and we kicked as much ass as one can kick without actually being recognized as a winner of any kind. There is a facebook group, and we are in the process of finding service projects for everyone. On the ferry back, I met my City College mentee, Zack, who is simply adorable.

Some time after I got home, Irene hit us and we lost a washer, a dryer, and possibly our water heater. Power was out for a few days, and we still can’t use the hot water. I am boiling some on the stove in a bit so I can take a bath today. It’s like the Wild West up here… lol

So, quick update on the Spain preparations. Last night, I talked to Diana, my wonderful roomie from freshman year. That counts as preparation in itself because I miss her like crazy. <3 As I told her, my flight is booked with a rountrip ticket back for December, because one has to leave “Schengen states” 90 days after entry if one is not a citizen. Since my EU citizenship cannot be proven without my German passport, I have to have plans to leave within 90 days so that the Spanish will let me enter their beautiful country.

As soon as I get my passport, I will change the return flight, which brings us to our next stop: NYC. I’m going to the consulate there to figure out all my German passport stuff and to meet with people that need to be met, including a lovely Macaulay ITF who will help make this blog look acceptable.

That is it for now, I believe. The real fun begins September 30th, 2011, when I fly out of Logan Airport in Boston at 6:20 PM.

All my love,

Julia
