The Book of Eli

My name is Elisha Emmanuel Edwards. That’s right, my name consists of 3 first names and all start with the letter E. Ever since kindergarten, most adults mispronounce my name as Alisha, which is why I am called Eli instead. Some people like to call me Alisha on purpose and I’ve been call Alicia Keys many times. But that’s enough about my dreaded name.

I am a health fanatic and love to learn about new ways to improve my body. I also love to exercise and play basketball, which is obviously my favorite sport. My favorite team is the New York Knicks and my idol is Carmelo Anthony. Please come and watch my games if I make it onto Lehman’s basketball team! I have also wrestled and ran track in Brooklyn Technical High School. I also play the drums at church, though I haven’t been to church since December.

Even though I was born in America, I consider myself to be 100% Jamaican. Both my parents are Jamaican, but my mom has played the role of both parents for all of my life. My father left her with me and my brother since I was about 2 years old, so I must say that God has blessed her to get through 16 years alone. My brother is one year younger, but taller than me so I despise him for that.
