A Little About What’s Inside
Hi everyone! My name is Jemema Joya. I recently graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School and I”m proud to call myself a Technite. However, I am now prouder to be part of Macaulay Honors College and to be surrounded by amazing people.
My interests are scattered in different areas. This may be unusual to others, but I love gardening. My passion for gardening stems from my love of nature and science. It amazes me that what started as a vision becomes reality at the end of the season when the baskets are filled with beans, peppers, and grapes. Fun fact: I have four types of mint in my small garden. They are grapefruit mint, sweet mint, spearmint, and peppermint, They have become my go-to natural chewing gum and my fresh tea. I also love to play and watch certain sports. I play badminton which my mom has taught me. Soccer is definitely an interest of mine – only to watch. I’m not that great at scoring goals.
Besides sports, I am also interested in the Arts. I sing Bangladeshi songs while playing the South Asian instrument, the harmonium. I also love watercolor painting which I wish to pursue and learn more about in college. I am also interested in photography. Most of my snaps are of nature and landscapes.
In this course I am looking forward to visiting the photography exhibits and participating in discussions, broadening my views as we share our ideas.
