One planet, One chance
The photo I chose from the video was the image of the young boy holding a kite in front of his (I’m assuming) refugee camp in the second minute of the video. The sky was quickly graying from an incoming storm, and the young boy was the only person standing among the tents. The reason I chose it was because it struck me as extremely poignant. The white kite, I related to a white flag of sorts. Almost as if to say “Please stop! You’re killing us, and I can’t handle it any longer.” It could also be seen as a symbol of youth, the boy trying to hold on to the last semblance of childhood before he succumbed to the pains of nature. The storm rolling in signifies the silent war of climate change mentioned earlier in the video. The image is sending the message that what we do in our developed countries are indirectly affecting the citizens of less developed countries.
