Come Together…Right Now

I truly enjoy reading McKibben’s articles because of how passionate he is. When reading A Call To Arms I find myself wondering what my presence will do for this issue. But at the end of the article I can’t help but feeling reassured, capable and hopeful that my presence will contribute to the cause. The climate march, like McKiben said will bring together “tens f thousands” of people. Because of the mass of people coming to the march our voices will no doubt be heard. With so many people participating in the event, how can any sane person deny the importance or even the existence of climate change?

What I enjoy about this article is that it doesn’t just point out examples of global warming, nor does it only blame it on humans. Instead it provides different ways of improving climate change. McKibben talks about using solar panels, installing new zoning codes, and stopping the burning of fossil fuels. After reading this article I feel as though I have the right to march for climate change because I am more involved and aware of what it’s about and what I am marching for.  I have hope that this march will not only be large, but be a redefining moment in our nation’s history. I want to be apart of something great and this gives me the opportunity to do just that. I want my kids and grandchildren to be able to play outside, to feel the warm breeze, to be able to walk outside without face masks. Global warming may not be extremely evident to my generation however it will affect the generations to come. It it is sort of beautiful as well to see, how much people care about the future even though they may not be able to grasp it. So many individuals full of passion, and love for the environment and their future generations will be gathered to protest a crisis that has been evident for decades. I can’t wait to be apart of that! This is why I truly believe that the loud movement will have more of an impact than we can ever imagine. This march is no doubt the beginning of something new!
