Complex terminology, Basic bottom line.
I am a very fact oriented individual. When reading or analyzing anything my mind is innately drawn towards facts, but upon reading this section of the book Climate Changed and being presented with a myriad of facts/data that could have been taken straight out of a published science article the thing that struck me the most was the overwhelming feeling that I felt. The facts and numbers are not necessarily overwhelming because as a scientist this is what we do we take quantitative and qualitative data and work with it everyday but the interpretation of this data is truly terrifying. What these numbers and observations point to is unimaginable. The fact of the matter is that no matter how much we try to deny or ignore it nothing changes, we are still warming the planet and heading towards an unpredictable future. A future where no amount of technology or intelligence can save us from what we are doing to ourselves. Though many scientists have tried to predict what our future holds if we continue on the same path that we are on now, I truly believe that this is an impossible task to accomplish. How can we predict what our futures will be like when we are introducing substances that are UNNATURAL, Chlorofluorocarbons, Hydrofluorocarbons, Perfluorocarbons and Sulfur Hexafluoride, substances that have never been introduced into the atmosphere in recorded history? Substances whose names alone can be intimidating and their affects, catastrophic.
