It’s the little things that count….

While reading this section of the graphic memoir, I wasn’t all that amused or entertained by the immediate flow of scientific facts and statistics. However, one thing that caught my attention was the images on page 50 and 51. The chart displays the quantity of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. There was a drastic increase at the start of the industrial revolution which can only imply one thing: that, we humans, are responsible for this increase. This made me think about all the technological advances and economic progressions we had made in the past centuries. Such a small device, like the cotton mill, was required to be manufactured in a factory. However, factories tended to run on fossil fuels. The same goes with the clothes we where today, many of which are also created in factories that are supplied by non-reusable energy. This raises the question of to what extent can we actually prevent harming our environment and atmosphere? Do we have to go to extremes and stop buying merchandise that was made in manufacturing locations that do not use reusable energy? Is this extreme at all or something that has to be done to save our Earth?
