Squarzonic Science
I love Squarzoni’s methods of accompanying facts with visual aid. I used to read encyclopedias for kids when I was younger, and I really enjoyed learning exactly how climate change works because I was able to put the facts together and make some sense out of it. I feel like I really understand the concept of what it means to save life on Earth and how important it is to march on Sunday. I am finally able to pass information on to others and explain the severity of our problems. This is important to me because climate change has directly impacted my personal life. My grandmother’s house was recently destroyed by a storm, and we need a lot of money to rebuild it. It makes me frustrated to be on the opposite end of the spectrum. It’s as if I am betraying my relatives, enjoying luxuries and relaxing while contributing to the waste that is damaging to the other side of the world. Climate change has become a very sensitive issue for me. It pulls me apart and reduces me to tears.
In another light, I appreciate the flow of the graphic memoir. The cliffhanger at the end makes me want to read more about climate change and what else he has to say about the topic. He brings us back into his memories through flashbacks, like zooming out of a picture. I am always looking forward to turning the page while reading.
