Are we already living in a World Where We’ve Irrevocably Changed the Climate?
The answer to that question is YES!
We have already changed the planet in a very negative way. More CO2 in the atmosphere results in an increase in the Greenhouse effect. How do we know this is true? Well, because eleven out of twelve hottest years on record was during the past twelve years and over the course of the 20th century the average surface temperature of the Earth increased by 0.74ºC. The summer of 2003 was the hottest summer on record in Europe; 29,000 people died. According to some researchers, by 2070, temperature levels like those in 2003 can be occurring every three years. I can’t even imagine that happening. I hate the heat, so when its only 70º outside, I’m sweating. Can you imagine the temperature being so hot that people die? And if it happens every three years, thousands of thousands of people will die just because of the weather. That’s insane!!
The facial expressions were interesting during this section. I really enjoyed looking at the pictures because the faces of the men made the conversations look more real. I’m interested to see what will happen in the memoir in the later sections.
