The first graphic memoir
“Climate Changed” is the first graphic memoir for me and I really enjoyed the reading for the first part because it is cartoons. When I saw the title of the book, I thought it would be boring book, full of information on it, and I was shocked with the numerous pages on it. But the book has a interesting beginning. Squarzoni begins with the book describing his childhood, playing in the garden with his sister and riding boat on the river near his house. He expresses how he starts with the book and realizes it is more difficult how to end the book and he says that he has no information about the greenhouse gas and global warming. I really liked the beginning of this book. A book usually starts with shocking result such as high rate of CO2 and pollution. But this book starts with his memory, reminding me of my childhood too.
Because the peninsula of Korea is smaller than the state of New York, every building is very high in Korea like NYC and everyone is so crowded to live in there. Unlike the author enjoyed his childhood in quiet village, I always lived in noisy and crowded cities. So, when I first came to USA and lived in long island during my high school, it was hard to live in those quiet places. But as time passed, I really enjoyed the weather, quietness, and fresh air. On page 24, he went to the village where he grew up and recalled his childhood. What about my childhood? It is all about high apartment and no grass in there just asphalt in there. I hope people focus on their environment and climate not on money and industry anymore. We better balance out those thing together.
