The Jaguar
Salgados work is very intense and the stories behind every image made it difficult to pick just a single image that stood out to me. After having seen so many amazing views and landscapes and reading the stories behind each image I was in awe of what a great artist this man is and the extent of work that he went through to capture such great photos. Though each image in their own way captured my attention the one with the Jaguar as the center focus, very aptly named The Jaguar, I would say is the one that captivated me the most. I love large cats anything from tigers, lions, pumas, cheetahs, leopards, and Jaguars. I find they are very majestic, beautiful and terrifying, their beauty and strength invokes respect, fear and admiration in me. The look of the jaguar in this image does the very same, when I first beheld the photo I noticed how stunning the Jaguar looked, no one wears print like that better than they do. Then I noticed the gripping stare in the Jaguars glance, they way that no matter where I moved or from what angle the Jaguars eyes always met mine as if it were looking intently and directly at me. Then I realized WAIT Salgado is who this creature was staring down and that’s when I thought to myself oh gosh I WOULD DIE if were the focus of this Jaguars gripping stare. All in all I thought the ICP was a good experience and it is always exciting to experience new things for me because before this I had never visited a photography exhibit.
