Beginnings, Beginnings…
The question that really intrigued me was “…if it’s the second time, is the beginning still the beginning?” (p. 74). This question made me ponder about how does this relate to climate change. I personally associate the beginning of climate change to the start of the Industrial Revolution because that was when there was a rise in CO2 emissions. However, if this is the beginning of climate change, than what is the second beginning? On page 73, Squarzoni states that “we only realize it’s there when we see it the second time”. To aid in his words, he repeats the same frame as on the previous page. I compared this repetitive nature to our word today. After the so-called start of climate change, years later, we witness tsunamis, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Could this be the second beginning? Or could it eventually lead to the end?
