No podemos morir como perros (I felt like it)
It’s a little hard to read, but the quote says,” If we must die, let it not be like dogs hunted and penned in an inglorious spot while round us bark the mad dogs.” Claude McKay
I don’t know. It was beautifully worded. The message it sends is great too. We must stand up for what we believe in, who we are. And if people are going to tear us down for it, at least we know we have something to fight for. Also, that we have to live life to the fullest, because we are going to die eventually, and would you rather go down fighting for something? Or be stuck in a corner surrounded by societal expectations? Well, that’s how I took it. I felt empowered looking at it. I think I’ve seen the quote before somewhere, although I don’t quite recall where exactly. I could have gone with “to be or not to be,” but I have a strong disliking for Hamlet. That could be due to the extensive analysis I had to do for English class last year on it. I’m so tired of Hamlet, that whiny little brat. There was also a Rachel Carson quote that I really liked, and I really like Rachel Carson, but this quote just stood out to me. I don’t even know who Claude McKay is!
