Take your Time
Festina Lente! What the heck does that mean? I admit that I’m a little bit disappointed in myself; I took Latin for 3 years and I have no recollection of this saying. So the only thing left to do is check Google!
It means to “make haste slowly.” In other words, we have to treat daily tasks with a sense of balance: a blend of diligence and urgency. If we rush assignments, then we will inevitably make mistakes. We should work in a state of being fully engaged by the task where there is no sense of time passing. Now let us immerse ourselves in college! Augustus couldn’t build the empire in a day and we can’t write a ten-paged paper in a day either. But sadly, this is great advice which I seldom follow.
