The Amazing Human Progress…

My favorite piece from the intersection pieces at Lehman College is this one which shows a few chemical reactions engraved on stone.

As we looked at the first piece, I saw that it had a few symbols and arrows without any letters which showed the first record of human language. After that as I looked at more pieces, I noticed how the human civilization progressed with time in terms of written language. Finally we got to the fifth piece which I was expecting to be a different font of alphabets taken from a particular time period but it was a piece with a few chemical reactions on it and it showed how human civilization has worked its way from absolutely no way of communication to such complex reactions. These basic reactions represent the formation of water and the process of human respiration. Although I have taken a chemistry class before, I never thought about how humans managed to turn simple alphabets into compound chemical formulas. This makes me think perhaps that’s why we are called Homo sapiens who have made great strides and is still striving to do better.
