Fell for Dance
What a show it was! I fell for dance as the title suggests us to “Fall for Dance.”
The first dance was pretty hard to grasp because it simply used the geometrical trait of dance: dancers moving and walking aside each other, sometimes making different motions or same, making circles or squares. It made me think of a genre in music called Math Rock. Math Rock is a form of Rock where it implies mathematical view of music, using different rhythms in the same song. ( I attach a Math Rock song here, I hope it works.) Sometimes, it sounds as if it’s just a unrelated combination from distinct melodies and rhythms, however it all comes together at some point. It’s just like the first dance.
The combination of modern dance and classical ballet in the beginning was just amazing. The light that surrounded and sketched each dancer’s body made the dance seem like a dance of a swan. Especially, with the long legs and arms, the dancers shone elegantly.
The dance with a love story theme blew my mind away also. In contrast to the first two dance performances, the dance with a strong beat, a complicated rhythm, and dynamic motions captured nearly everyone’s eyes. When the male dancer performed those incredible and impossible dance moves, everyone was in awe, saying “wow.”
The last one was just fun despite all the other facts. The dance brought the audiences together into one. The audiences who went up on the stage were hilarious.
I think this event sparked an interest in me to watch more dance performances. I previously thought that dancing, unlike music or painting, cannot convey the feelings or thoughts of a person. However, the notion totally changed. There was something stirring up my heart; I felt some kind of feelings while watching the performance. Wether it was the dancers’ intentions or not , it is sure that SOMETHING affected me.
