so sad
The reading of second part of memory water was hard for me to stop reading. Noria’s life was getting harsh in the book and also for villagers. Her mother left to Xinjing to study in the college more and her father passed away. She became a tea master but other professional tea masters complained that she was not a man. Villagers who built illegal water pipes were executed… They were killed by having water. And now in my hand, I have a cup of water. fresh spring water not purified by sea water. I am living in dorm now so I have to buy water from deli or marker near my dorm. Last night, I forgot buying water and I had no more water in my room. And in midnight, I woke up with the extreme thirst and I figured it out that I had no water. I just slept again but it was hard to sleep back again. People in this book were all struggling by pain from shortage of amount of water. They had just some small amount of water. There is one tv show in Korea that 6 comedians live in one house, living without one type of living supplements for one week. electricity or water supply or money. I watched they were living without enough water for one week; they received 20L of water (5.28gallons). It seems a lot but they had to use when they took a shower, cooked, and even flushed the toilet. 20L of water was not enough for them to live a day.
I really felt sorry for those characters in the book. What I have done is actually affected to the climate changed and their lives. On page 113, the author says “One day someone who doesn’t remember us will walk on our skin and flesh and bones, on the dust that remains of us”. This sentence captured me and makes me ponder this deep meaning of the sentence. Everything is cycled. soil water air. A person is buried when he dies and plant is grown from the soil where a person is buried and the next generation people eat the plant and will die and will be buried again. All this cycle continues. All actions and thought are followed by responsibility and consequences.
