Out here on my own
America the Great! It’s the country known for its gigantic SUVs and hamburgers that could topple the Empire State Building. But this isn’t always a wondrous thing. To power our immense mechanisms, a whole lot of energy is required which means, in other words, fossil fuels. Over just the last thirty years, greenhouse gas emissions increased by 145 percent! Well, America is not looking so great anymore.
But what- actually who is America (AMURRICA!)? It’s you, me, and so many other people. We are conditioned to the life of the dollar menu of McDonalds and buying gas for our cars. This is the American culture; this who we are. Change needs to happen but this demands us to live like a “poor person in some underdeveloped country. I, personally, don’t want to do this, or at least do this alone. Would the sacrifices I make have value when nobody else is contributing?
