The Water Calls
The Water Calls
The transparent, crystalline river
Ebbs and Flows.
Backandforth, backandforth, backandforth.
It is hypnotic,
Calling to me from where
I stand.
A brilliantly colored fish
Leaps jubilantly out of the
Water.
Its scales glisten in the
Sun’s marigold
Rays.
Splashing the pure
Liquid as it falls back
In.
The majestic source of life,
Sustaining,
Powerful,
Enigmatic.
Its erratic disposition breeding
Both life and death.
The water giveth and it taketh
Away.
Unable to stay away much
Longer,
I glide to the
Serene water.
As I wade in, feeling
Nothingness, I
Remember.
Remember.
I remember the lethal waves,
Swirling,
Waltzing me around.
I spin, my breath gone,
MyLimbsFlailingToNoAvail.
Two grey hands wrap
Around my neck
And I am underneath the
Waves.
I sink down, down, down,
My lungs consumed by a
Wet inferno.
I forget where I am,
Who I am,
What I am.
My thoughts are gone,
I slip into a deep unconsciousness.
And for a moment that seems like
An eternity all is
Silent.
And above a bird soars.
