Cruel Endings

Its that sinking feeling in the gut when something awful happens.  It totally human nature to want that happy ending and to want that happily ever after that is instilled in us as little kids.  But this book tosses that completely around.

I have mixed feelings about Noria’s death.  I prepared myself for a tragic ending of some kind, but I don’t think I was expecting Noria to die herself.  This really puts things into perspective and it really makes me think about our future.  I didn’t think things could get any worse in the book.  They already didn’t have enough water.  They already had to live in insect hoods.  They already had to treat water like money.  They already had to retreat back to primitive live without any knowledge of how society got to that point of destruction.  But of course, Noria is left to die… alone.  It’s just all really sad and pitiful… only because this.could.be.our.future.

It’s not arbitrary that Noria’s life was short-lived.
