That’s it…?

I’m not sure how I feel about the ending to this novel. I felt like I, as the reader, was left with many unanswered questions. I don’t understand how Sanja was able to escape the military so easily, even with the hacked pass-pod. How could she just leave without informing her best friend Noria? Then I started thinking, maybe under those extreme circumstances Sanja had no choice but to leave Noria and go to Xingxing to find her mother who may be able to help. I wasn’t really content with the vagueness of the ending where I have no clue what happened to Noria. So she got the blue circle on her house. What did the military do to her? Is she going to die or be held captive for the rest of her life?

One part that really stood out to me however was when Commander Taro confesses to Noria that he was the son of a tea master which explained why he knew about the spring. When Taro said that he reported his own father’s spring to the military, I was exposed to Taro’s sinister nature. Overall, I felt this novel succeeded in character development but, in my opinion, lacked a good ending.
