Otemae Chodai Itashimasu!

The Japanese Tea Ceremony was definitely the trip I was longing for. Who wouldn’t want to see girls in beautiful kimonos and the frothy tea turned green by the matcha powder. But the more I thought about the event the more I felt a little bit nervous. The Japanese seemed to have a reputation of being sharp and precise. How can I act respectful in such a complex art form that I have never participated in?!

Gratefully, I was very relieved that the tea master understood our plight and inexperience; he explained the process one step at a time from the way to pick up the sweets to rotating the teacup. The atmosphere was very delightful and relaxing, fun and unpretentious. We were able to laugh as we stumble, while watching the masters delicately and intricately hand us the fresh and creamy tea. So I just want to say “Otemae Chodai Itasimasu!” :D
