All I wanted was my laptop and some Starbucks

I have to admit that this Jazz Performance was not one of my favorite events. First of all, the live music reminded me a lot of Starbucks and all I needed was my laptop and a nice warm caramel frappuccino, not to mention a more comfortable chair. I think the reason I did not really enjoy this performance was because when I listen to music, especially instrumentals, I rather listen to it in solitude (with headphones on) or while I am pre-occupied with doing something else (such as homework or washing the dishes even). I feel like jazz, as well with various other genres of music, is meant to move you. While I sat there, watching the piano keys play, the bass strings being strung, and the drums being hit, I honestly felt a bit bored. However, I did notice a few aspects of the performance. For example, the expression of Chestnut’s face as he played the piano was exceptional. I could tell he was feeling the music within him as he hit each key. In my opinion, and this may be because I used to play the piano myself, I felt like the piano was the star of the performance and the bass and the drums were additional notes that enhance the jazz performance all together. Of course, at times the bass and drums had there share of a solo, which was respectfully responded by an applaud from the audience, but it was truly the piano playing that caught my attention. I was drawn to each note that endlessly seemed to flow into the next. Although, the jazz performance seemed to drag itself for quite a while, I definitely felt inspired to play my piano the next day.
