Diana where I’m from
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oM6Kky5viMY&list=UUQk9IMJ8krMdXenPuM5Zrxw
I am from Orale! Como estas!
and eating tortillas with every meal
From soda caps and making pretend tacos
with leaves and dirt in the Rancho
I am from owning a single muñeca
and being very upset that I no longer have it
From too scared to go to the outhouse at night
for fear of seeing la llorona
I am from scary stories around the cooking fire
(I can still smell the leña burning)
I am from Angie, Eli, and Toño, three loving siblings
Mena, Ashley and Juanito my amazing nieces and nephew
for whom I would gladly give everything
From enjoying every precious moment in which we can all be together
sitting in chairs set around the room listening to music
and enjoying each others laughter and smiles
I am from waiting for los Reyes Magos
every 6th of January to open my Christmas gifts
From eating rosca and drinking hot la abuelita chocolate
I am from south of the border, from 2016 kilometers
that my parents traveled by foot
From leaving everything behind and sacrificing all
I am from watching my mom come home at 12 am and leaving at 5am,
From parents who would ache and rub their tired backs, their feet, and their heads
I am from struggling to pay the rent after the car accident
From crying to sleep from the hopelessness of my situation
Yo soy de Ni de aqui Ni de alla
From nacida en Mexico but made in America
I am from a land of Dreamers where we wipe the sweat off our brow
and continue working thankful to god that we are blessed with a job
From fighting to protect our rights by marching, chanting, gathering
I am from a golden cage, a land where everything is possible yet impossible
I am from long days working and longer nights doing homework
From glad to be in school knowing full well that many others like me cannot
I am from accepting the difficulties and edifying myself
I am from what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger
In regards to the I am from project I actually found it to be quite enjoyable, though I am no expert in technology, I love learning new things and I feel that this project taught me so much in working with multimedia. Like many I also suffer from a serious case of procrastination and kept putting off completing this project because of the amount of work and time that I thought I would have to invest in it. Though, ultimately I really liked working on this project and when I was working on it, it didn’t even feel like work to me. Working on this project was actually soothing and relaxing.I also enjoyed watching everyone’s video, seeing everyone’s final product and listening to their stories was one of my favorite parts. I feel like I know everyone just a little bit better now. Although I did find it to be very awkward sitting in class while my own video was playing (I don’t know about everyone else but I really dislike the sound of my own voice on video and having to sit through 3 minutes of my voice on the speakers made me cringe a little, more like a lot). All in all I thought everyone did a superb job with their presentation. I appreciated their work all the more since I now know the amount of dedication that it takes to complete a movie like this.
