I’m from the early morning prayers

From Firm Belief and Reliance on Him

I’m from the inspiring Koran verses

Which strengthen me when my heart falters

I’m from a sheltered childhood

From chubby cheeks and innocent smile

I’m from my 18 year old blankie

Which is the symbol of my grandma’s love

I’m from the slap by my teacher in 3^rd grade

The cold burning sensation on my cheeks is where I’m from

I’m from yelling at my annoying little sister

And getting yelled at by my mom

I’m from a sudden loss of my best friend

From tight hugs and long conversations with her

I’m from my hometown Quetta

From Hazara Community which is my identity

I’m from the blessed Eid each year,

The colorful bangles and Shalwar kameez is where I’m from

Long daily commute to Lehman,

The insolent crowd on 7 train is where I’m from

I’m from Squrazoni and Itaranta

From Seminar 1 which has made me passionate about Climate Change

I’m from past mistakes and present motivation

From the upcoming MCATS and an unknown future
