More Questions Than Answers
I have to say that after this performance I felt very confused. I honestly had no idea what was going on. I made assumptions but there was no way to know if it was right or not.
I didn’t understand what the group of men represented or why they were stepping.
I thought maybe they were wearing black to represent the oil, that birds are suffocating in, but again I have no idea.
Why were the women swinging white balls?
What did their movements, and calls mean?
It wasn’t until I got home that I realized the playbill summarized the meaning of the women’s calls. By then I was already too confused to try and understand it.
I did like that the stage was set up in a way that made it seem like there was a mirror, but overall I was very confused. I enjoyed the eeriness of the performance but I couldn’t see the performers faces, or their expressions.
I thought this performance would really reflect the horrors of climate change, but I didn’t understand it enough to think that it portrayed what it was supposed to.
