Hope for a Happy Ending
Indeed the ending to this graphic memoir left me feeling a little better. Despite the catastrophes and disasters Squarzoni mentions that occurred in the past and soon to be in the future (with the increasing rate of CO2 emissions), there is still hope. The ending to this book mimics the end of our world. Nothing is definite. The “story isn’t over” (457) because we always had, and will have, the ability to change the ending. I think what Squarzoni is trying to tell us is that there is still time. Time to change. Time to convert to natural energy sources, such as wind and solar energy. Time to put down the phone and limit our daily use of electricity. So how will the world end? Only we can determine that.
