Its simple arithmetic…….two negatives do make a positive.
Well its done. Squarzoni finished his book and he took us through the journey along with him. Not only the journey exploring the topic of climate change but also the journey that is writing a book. Where it begins and where it ends. I must say that reaching the end sections of this book the question of endings really became relevant. Climate change is something that is ongoing, so how do you end the conversation on something that has barely begun? I was curious and apprehensive as to how Squarzoni would finish the book. I think I was in many ways hoping that Squarzoni didn’t pull a bunch of nonsense by saying that humanity has so much hope, how we can fix this before its too late etc. I like how Squarzoni wrapped up the book for us. He was as candid as he possible could be regarding his true feelings of where we go from here on out. I mean after giving us a myriad of facts proving how poorly we have treated our home, he couldn’t have expected us to believe him if he said everything will be fine from here on out. In reality neither him nor the scientist studying climate change knows what our fate is exactly, no matter how meticulous their studies are they cannot have a single and concise answer for us. I like that Squarzoni left a touch of optimism and yet he kept it real with us in giving his true opinion, he instilled in us a sense of hope, hope that maybe from now on we are not alone in such a tumultuous battle. Yes he did not want to leave us with only a negative point but its simple arithmetic two negatives make a positive. Out of so much negativity and pessimism that we felt when reading the book we are left now with a renewed sense a hope.
