A More Optimistic Look on the Issue at Hand

When I read that “convert[ing] sunshine into usable energy has become much cheaper far more rapidly than anyone had predicted”, I thought why isn’t everyone converting to the use of solar energy? Even in Germany, as Al Gore states, two of the largest coal burning utilities value has started to drastically decline and continue to drop. Progress is definitely being made within our world, in regards to environmentally healthy conditions and uses. The fact that in the United States alone, wind energy comprises of almost one-third of our “electricity-generating capacity” is a remarkable step towards decreasing CO2 emissions. Reading this article, made me feel better about our world today. Rather than all the ‘pessimistic’ notions given by Squarzoni in Climate Changed, I believe that Al Gore has definitely demonstrated a more optimistic behavior towards climate change. He has acknowledged not only what we, as a nation, has altered to decrease CO2 concentrations, but what other nations across the seas have been doing as well.

“Climate crisis has become an existential threat to the future of human civilization…”  – Al Gore
