I’m Ready to Fall In Love!

My experience with watching opera has been limited to the occasional PBS Theater Specials they give on TV. The overall drama in the performers’ voices and body language has always intrigued me. For as long as I can remember, I have always wondered what it would be like to actually go see an opera in real life. So once I found out that the seminar class would be going to the Metropolitan Opera, I was excited to say the least. However, I was worried that my lack of knowledge and experience with opera would prevent me from truly understanding the performance. After reading Patchett’s article on how to truly appreciate opera, I know that my unfamiliarity with opera won’t prevent me from enjoying the show. Now I am more excited than ever(if that’s even possible!) to see Hansel and Gretel.
