Have an Open Mind

I really like the quote above because it perfectly describes how our attitude should be not only to the opera, but life in general. We should always try to have an open mind and be willing to experience new things. This article really is getting me excited for the opera. I am not an opera person as I have never seen an opera and my opinion on them is pretty negative. When I think of the opera, I think of the stereotypical fat lady screaming really loudly. I’m sure my opinion of the opera will change when I actually see one in person. Patchett said that the opera will take us into another world. I love art that transports me elsewhere. I’m not a big fan of reading, but when I do read a book my favorite ones are the ones that transport me into another place. The opera is a very passionate form of art, which I’m sure will be amazing to watch. I don’t think I would have ever gone to the opera on my own, so I’m excited to do something so different. On a side note, on the last page “Violetta’s gown” was mentioned and I was like WHHHATTT?! That’s my name!!! Is that an opera? I need to go look it up.
