Wait, we aren’t going to die?
The article was so strange to me. I am accustomed to Squarzoni’s tone of writing, including words such as “it’s too late,” which sounds all too familiar. Although Al Gore does mention inconsolable ice landscapes of West Antarctica, his main theme focuses at the multiple ways that renewable energy is becoming reality. One of the methods is the cheapening of solar panels which is leading to wonderful results. India’s neighbor, Bangladesh is installing nearly two new rooftop PV every minute!
At the same time, I honestly feel somewhat sympathetic toward companies that rely on fossil fuel electricity such Koch industries. According Al Gore (which could be very biased), the Koch brothers have secretively donated at least $70 million to a number of political organizations tasked with spreading disinformation about the climate crisis. I understand that it is terrible
action, especially after reading Squarzoni, but it because they are desperate. Imagine a whole enterprise collapsing; it is devastating to think about it. Al Gore says that they could have converted to renewable energy earlier. Unfortunately, it is too late now. We have to switch to renewable energy before it is too late for us!
