Wow Al Gore
This was a pretty interesting article. Two quotes really struck me. The first one was “The accumulated man-made global-warming pollution already built up in the Earth’s atmosphere now traps as much extra heat energy every day as would be released by the explosion of 400,000 Hiroshima-class nuclear bombs.” This is pretty crazy. A nuclear bomb has a lot of energy in it, so the fact that the pollution we caused is the same amount of energy as 400,000 Hiroshima nuclear bombs is insane.
The second quote that struck me was “Torrential rains in Afghanistan in April triggered mudslides that killed thousands of people – almost as many, according to relief organizations, as all of the Afghans killed in the war there the previous year.” This is another shocking quote to me. No one thinks that rain can kill so many people, but it really can. This can happen to us, but no one believes it can.
Climate change is happening so we should do whatever we can to help alleviate this problem like we should switch to renewable resources like solar or wind energy. Small changes can really help make a big difference in the long run.
