Art & Climate Change – Who would have thought…
Entering seminar, I was initially confused because it was called The Arts in NYC yet we were learning about climate change and global warming. I thought it was going to be really boring looking at texts and “art” that have to do with the “health” of our planet. However, going into our first event together, the People’s Climate March, my perspective began to change. I realized how art truly does come in different forms. Making those posters and showing them off at the march created a widespread influence on the awareness of climate change and its critical effects on our world. Even the Salgado exhibition at the ICP made me realize how beautiful our world is and how much we need to preserve it’s beauty. Although I didn’t find Climate Change all that amazing, it still provided hard core facts that I think were necessary to fully comprehend the wide scope issue of climate change. I have to say though that my favorite assignment of this seminar had to be the Where I’m Form video in which not only did I learn the facets of IMovie, but I got to learn A LOT about my fellow peers, who I now refer to as my Macaulay Lehman family. This seminar was no doubt my favorite class of the semester!
