“Nibbling, nibbling, little mouse! Who’s nibbling on my little house?”
The opera of Hansel and Gretel was a great way of ending the class. I think the storyline was completely changed from what is normally told. Like there wasn’t a evil stepmother (and she didn’t leave at the end), the other children coming back alive, and the dream sequence. Honestly, the opera made the story much more fantasy like, but also more darkish (because at the end, I saw Gretel holding a part of the witch’s leg and I was like oh gosh, it is all starting over again). Like plot twist, Gretel becomes the next witch.
But I got to give respect to the singers. The quality and the projection of their voice was fantastic. The orchestra was also pretty amazing – when they perform without the singer’s voice, they still can invoke a certain image with just the musical notes. All and all, it was an amazing performance.
