As an individual who cannot draw, sing or compose anything that can possibly be considered artsy, I’ve got to admit that I was hesitant to take this Arts in NYC course but alas it was mandatory. I’m happy to say that I am glad we were forced to take this course! Otherwise I may have never had a chance to attend all the wonderful events or see the arts in a light much different than I was accustomed to. I never imagined that art could be such a powerful tool, so powerful that countless individuals were using it as ammunition to combat climate change. The fact that this class focused on such a crucial topic and one that I had been intrigued and concered by in the past really allowed me to obtain a higher knowledge for the arts. This course has allowed me to gain a better appreciation of art as a powerful tool for activism. I am sure the class was as wonderful and intriguing as it was due to the guidance of such great and passionate individuals like Professor Perl and Ben. Being in a class where the professor seemed more than happy to be teach us and saw the good in everything is truly enriching and quite unique, not many students have the priviledge to be guided by indiciduals as passionate as professor Perl (with art and English) and Ben (with all of his tech tricks and hacks). All in all this class was amazing and enriching and I could not have asked for a better start to college.
