We really do tell ourselves tales
There is so much to talk about in this section of climate changed. Squarzoni brings back the notion of our split personality disorder, he talks about our contradictory acts, and he brings back the plate analogy. I found it interesting to think about our split personality of the nation as a whole. The fact that the U.S. was one of the main perpetrators in the failure of the Kyoto protocol but yet we have all of these national parks that we try to protect and conserve is ridiculous. It seems like the U.S. is just putting up a front to make it seem like we care about our environment that we go through so much to create all these national parks but our actions are actually destroying countless other landmarks around the world. Squarzoni also brought back the plate over the edge analogy and he began to discuss what would happen once the plate goes over the edge. I found it quite interesting that this time instead of speaking of thresholds and the results on the climate, Squarzoni touched upon what the impact would be on society with all these drastic climatic changes. It reminded me of the oil wars of “Memory of Water”, these wars and conflicts between nations over scarce resources would not be fictional anymore, oil wars do not seem as farfetched anymore, and neither does the world that Noria lived in.
