It’s Over

I truly cannot believe that this semester is over!! I remember the first day of class when Prof. Perl said the whole semester will be focused on climate change. I just thought to myself “What, the whole class is just going to be focused on climate change!” The only thing I knew about climate change was that it was bad; I didn’t know any specific facts about the issue. This class really gave me a deeper insight into climate change and makes me realize that I can do something about this. I can make a difference, even if it is a little one.

My favorite part of this class was going to so many different events. That was so much fun. We were able to experience so many unique events like the Fall for Dance (my favorite), the Climate March, BAM, the Jazz concert, and all the other ones. Each event really made me think and I wouldn’t have been able to go to any of them if it wasn’t for Macaulay. I also enjoyed writing on this blog because I’ve never done this before. Even though at times it did become annoying, overall I enjoyed doing something so different.

But, I have to say my favorite part of this class was doing the “Where I’m From” project. I was so stressed during the project because I wanted it to be perfect and I stayed up all night finishing it. When I finally got it done, I was so proud of it. I wrote an email to my family sending them the video and they were so shocked that I created that. My parents must have watched that video over ten times because they loved it so much. Because of this project I realized that I can write poetry and I can use iMovie. At times that program really frustrated me, but overall I loved using it because the final product came out so great. That video is something I will never forget making because I have never been more proud of something that I had to do for school before.

This seminar was a great way to start off my first year of college and I can’t thank Prof. Perl enough for all she did for us. Thank you Prof. Perl and Ben for teaching us so much!! We really can’t thank you enough!!!
