Brooklyn Museum Was Really Worth The Trip

This trip to Brooklyn Museum has really changed my perception about museums in general. As I mentioned in the class, I was never a museum-oriented person at all until I experienced this museum trip. I think the reason as to why the museums did not interest me before is that I really did not know the art of analysing a piece of art and appreciating the creative work put into it by various skilful artists. This time, Macaulay gave me the opportunity to observe the fabulous pieces of art at Brooklyn Museum with my fellow Macaulay students for the very first time by recording our conversations and sharing our ideas with each other. I learnt that every detail in an art piece has a certain reason behind it which is open to various interpretations and there is really not a “right” or “wrong” interpretation which makes it even more interesting.

Brooklyn Museum has a spectacular collection of art work which is diverse as well as incredibly beautiful. I really enjoyed the Ancient Egyptian Art as I got to see colourful coffins and mummies that were nearly thousands of years old. One of my favourite art piece in the museum was “A Storm in the Rocky Mountains” By Albert Bierstadt which had a lot of detail work and depicted Native Americans in the ancient times.

Opposed to what I was expecting, I stayed in the museum for more than 2 hours and I really enjoyed each and every art piece I observed. This trip made me realise that I have been missing out on some very interesting and useful stuff in the past and as much as I regret it, I am equally determined to visit more museums from now on and also take my younger sibling with me on these museum trips so that she could develop a sense of appreciation for these preserved pieces of art.
